April 6th, 2980 TA: Samwise Gamgee (later Gardner) is born to Hamfast “The Gaffer” Gamgee and Bell Gamgee née Goodchild, presumably at Bagshot Row in Hobbiton.
April 6th, 3019 TA: Celeborn of Lothlórien and Thranduil of the Woodland Realm rename Mirkwood to Eryn Lasgalen, Sindarin for “the Wood of Greenleaves.”
April 8th, 3019 TA: Aragorn leads the Gondorians in praise of Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee at the Field of Cormallen in Ithilien.
This week in Tolkien history:
April 4th, 1960 CE: Hugo Wallace Weaving is born to Wallace and Anne Weaving in Ibadan, Nigeria. He portrayed Elrond in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and is expected to reprise the role in The Hobbit.
